HIV p24-env Type 1 Protein

This protein is a 256 amino acid fusion protein consisting of the type 1 HIV p24 core polypeptide with a conserved, highly immunoreactive envelope polypeptide sequence derived from HIV-1 envelope inserted at the gene level. The protein which has been subjected to extensive purification produces a single band on SDS and is soluble in physiological buffer. The p24-env type 1 protein does not contain any non-HIV related sequences and it has proven to be a highly effective antigen to detect anti-HIV antibodies in infected individuals. For an SDS gel analysis image of the purified protein, see Lane 3 on the gel  image (left).

HIV p24-env Type 2 Protein

This protein is a 258 amino acid fusion protein consisting the type 1 HIV p24 core polypeptide with a conserved, highly immunoreactive envelope polypeptide sequence derived from HIV-2 envelope inserted at the gene level. The protein which has been subjected to extensive purification produces a single band on SDS and is soluble in physiological buffer. The HIV type 2 p24 env recombinant polypeptide contains no non-HIV related sequences. It has proven highly effective in detecting HIV type 2 antibodies in sera from individuals infected with this virus. For an SDS gel analysis image of the purified protein, see lane 4 on the gel image (left).

HIV p24-env Type O Protein

This protein is a 258 amino acid fusion protein consisting the type 1 HIV p24 core polypeptide with a conserved, highly immunoreactive envelope polypeptide sequence designed using a consensus sequence of various HIV type O envelope species which were synthetically prepared and inserted into the p24 gene prior to expression. The protein which has been subjected to extensive purification, produces a single band on SDS and is soluble in physiological buffer. The HIV Type O p24 env recombinant polypeptide contains no non-HIV related sequences. Due to the scarcity of type O antisera from individuals infected with this viral variant, no extensive documentation has been possible, however, reports from clients having gained experience with the protein indicate strong reactivity with such sera. For an SDS gel analysis image of the purified protein, see lane 5 on te gel image (left).
